National Tire Safety Week only comes once a year, but serves to remind us of the importance of proper tire care that should be practiced everyday. National Tire Safety Week is run by the U.S. Tire Manufacturer’s association, or USTMA, and runs from June 28 to July 4. This time serves as a great opportunity to learn about safety standards and protocols, which prompts awareness for tire safety.

Tire Pressure: One of the most important things you can do to ensure your tires are working properly is to check your tire pressure. We recommend checking this at least once a month as your pressure can change with normal wear. Having your tire pressure too high or too low can cause your tires to wear out faster and can cause you to get a flat tire. Using a tire pressure meter can save you money since your tires will wear evenly and as they should.

Spare Tire: If you have ever had a flat tire, you may have had to use your spare. Having a spare tire comes in handy when you get a flat tire and need a quick fix while you get to a tire shop. However, you need to make sure your spare tire is always in top shape. Check the tire pressure and tread at least once every 3 months. 

Alignment: Having your tires properly aligned will save you money from improper wear, but also improves your safety. Your tires can become unaligned due to normal wear on the road, and you should check for an alignment job at least once a year.
